Commander Alaei: Russian and Chinese Air Defense and Jets were Useless Against Israel
Former IRGC NAVY commander Hossein Alaei, shares his candid perspective on Israel-Iran war and the crisis facing Iranian regime. Highlights of the talk:
- There is not much time left to make tough decisions. Everyone in the regime agrees old paradigms have led to a dead end. We are facing existential threats but I don't see a paradigm shift soon and am not hopeful.
- Russian S-300 proved useless in defense against Israel. Fighter jets from China or Russia will also not be effective against the powerful US and Israeli air Force. Israel has a powerful Air Force and intelligence apparatus. Iran has very limited financial resources so we are spending them on cyber attacks and ballistic missile programs.
- We are in a stalemate but Iran is under pressure and willing to end this if Trump offers a compromise on Iran's peaceful nuclear program. We have been ready to negotiate with America but they do not show interest and only demand our surrender.
- President Raisi decided not to return to negotiations with the US so we lost our chances then.
