Iranian MP: We are Fighting for our Geopolitical Survival, Time is Short
In What follows, we have collected a few opposing views about the final stage of Iran-Israel-US-Russia-Ukraine conflict:
A member of the Iranian parliament and the National Security Commission has shared his candid assessment of the situation in the Middle East in an interview. Mr. Zohrevand refers to the elimination of President Raissi by the enemies and blames the government for trusting some insignificant promises by Elon Musk. He warns against the potential collapse of Assad in Syria and criticizes Erdogan for backstabbing Iran. “We are facing an existential crisis for our geopolitical survival. I don't know how else I should warn the authorities? We don't have a lot of time left. Even if we were to retaliate against Israel, the government has to decide what's next. Of course, in normal conditions, I would prefer to negotiate with the US rather than with the East or Europe (but the situation is not normal now).
He also shares his disappointment about Russia and China abandoning Iran in Syria and Lebanon: “Russians received candy or a bonus in Ukraine. It’s understandable. They are under a lot of domestic pressure.” he then lashes out at the so-called “authorities” in Iran and says: “You have no long term economic or strategic plans. You have destroyed everything. Everybody is swindling and taking advantage of everybody. We need to leave people alone and instead focus on the government becoming more efficient.. If Assad goes, so does Iraq, then we have to bow in our negotiations with the West. Iraq would break up. In the north we'll have Kurdish separatists on our doorsteps, in the North Aliyev and Azerbaijan, in Southeast Pakistani separatists and in Northeast Taliban from Khorasan trying to break up Iran too. Indians don't mind and like to see Pakistan break up too. So the goal is to break up and sandwich Iran like they tried after September 11. And I predict that soon, we may have troubles from the Pakistani side. The system has no long term economic plans. We are short 4 million vehicles and at most we produce 600,000 low-quality vehicles a year. Everywhere we go, the doors are closed to people. All you see is inequity and imbalance. And what difference does it make if I shout loud slogans and make hot speeches on the floor of the House? If we had fixed the government and administered justice by now, we would not need an atomic bomb or a nuclear program. We need to let people decide about their own private lives and leave them alone. The One Thousand family is milking our economy and taking advantage of the current economic and political situation. We don’t have much time left to fix things…..
Exiled reformist Mojtaba Vahedi lashes out at the new mandatory head scarf bill and says the renewed domestic crack down on women is a sign Iran's Supreme Leader has been defeated in his foreign confrontations with Israel and the US:
Scott Ritter, on the other hand, believes Syria's events are a sign Israel was unable to defeat Hezbollah in Lebanon so they are opening a new front in Syria to weaken Iran-Hezbollah axis. He believes Turkey in supporting Syrian rebels, is taking its leads from Israel:
Omid Dana, former supporter of IRGC and now a critic of Iran's theocratic government finds the Islamists in Syria more civilized and libertarian than Ayatollahs in Iran who are now mandating head scarf again. Dana has stated on several occasions that Russia was a key enabler of Palestinians in their October 7 attack against Israel:
A cleric-looking video blogger named Alizadeh believes the passing of the Islamic law authorizing harsh treatment of women without scarf in Iran will weaken the Ayatollah's strategic position more than Israel's attacks would:
