Migrant Afghan girl runs for City Council in Australia
Shabnam Safa is a 20 year old Australian migrant of Afghan ancestry, from the Hazara Persian speaking Shia minority, officially nominated as a candidate for Casey council elections in the province of Victoria in Australia. Her parents indicate they fought common stereotypes in the Afghan community to pave the way for their daughter to achieve her dreams.
