US foreign relations scholars, Vali Nasr, Wendy Sherman, David Sanger and Philip Gordon, are in agreement that Saudi Arabia's recent execution of the Shia Cleric and other provocative hostile regional actions are out of desperation, intentionally designed to snub both US and Iran in the aftermath of the nuclear deal.
