Some Iranians Still Indignant at US Actions: From 1953 Coup and Helping Saddam Gas Iranians to Support of Taliban and Downing of Iranian Passenger Flight

While a growing number of US politicians such as Bernie Sanders and Tulsi Gabbard, as well as libertarian Republicans such as Congressmen Rand and Ron Paul, are now opposing any war against Iran, inside Iran yesterday people commemorated the 31st anniversary of Iran Air passenger flight 655 shut down by the US Navy. Some 290 passengers including many children were killed in the tragic incident (news link) which deepened the historic wounds felt by many Iranians.
The hardcore Anti-American activists inside Iran, many harsh critics of President Rouhani and Foreign Minister Zarif for their rapprochement effort towards the Obama Administration, have a long list of grievances as a reason for their indignation against America: From the Reagan Administration supporting Saddam Hussein during his invasion and chemical attacks on Iran, to US helping and arming the radical Sunni elements of Taliban, ISIL and Al-Qaeda in Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan (as a means to curb Iran's regional power), to the old wounds of the 1953 CIA-led coup against the democratically elected prime Minister Mossadegh.
According to an article in Foreign Policy, CIA files prove the U.S. knew Saddam Hussein was launching some of the worst chemical attacks in history -- and still gave him a hand. In 1988, during the waning days of Iraq’s war with Iran, the United States learned through satellite imagery that Iran was about to gain a major strategic advantage by exploiting a hole in Iraqi defenses. U.S. intelligence officials conveyed the location of the Iranian troops to Iraq, fully aware that Hussein’s military would attack with chemical weapons, including sarin, a lethal nerve agent.
