Young Iranian Women Now Join Biker and Armed Bandit Gangs

Earlier this month two young Iranian women became newsmakers.
First, a young gunwoman was arrested in Tehran while attempting armed robbery of a gold store. The young woman who was a hair stylist by day, had demanded, at gunpoint, 1000 gold coins from a jeweler in Darband area without noticing the store's police line was activated. The young woman claims she is the product of divorce and has been struggling to make ends meet as a young hair stylist living alone.
In recent months, a wave of armed robberies have been reported across Iran but it is rare to see women committing a heist.
Separately, while controversies over allowing women in stadiums or issuing motorcycle license to women continues, female sports bikers like Baran Hadizadeh, defying the norms, have been featured in the news media:
