Iranian pilot saved Russian-made aircraft from imminent crash
The Russian-made Tupolev Tu-154 aircraft belonging to Iranian Airline lost an engine on route from Iranian city of Bandar Abbas to Tehran. There were 156 passengers on board and the pilot managed to re-start the engine minutes before an imminent crash. The flight had an emergency landing in Bandar Abbas airport. There have been 5 deadly incidents in Iran involving Russian-made aircraft. In January 2010, Russian national carrier Aeroflot announced the retirement of its Tu-154 fleet after almost 40 years service, leaving Iran as owner of one of the largest fleets of Tupolev.
