Iranian Parliament Hears Women Victimized by Acid Attack, Approves Eye for an Eye Penalty
Independent Aggregator of Iran-related News/Events, Kodoom.com: In a somber session, members of Iranian Parliament met several women disfigured in acid attacks.
Many of these women are victims of domestic violence by rejected suitors, former lovers and occasionally religious zealots.
The women were accompanied by Reza Dormishian, the director of Lantouri, an Iranian film about acid attacks, as well as members of the Society to Support Victims of Acid Attacks.
In 2015, a series of acid attacks on women with poor Hijab (head cover mandated by Iran's Islamic law) on the streets of Isfahan were blamed on religious zealots unhappy with women showing their hair. Perpetrators are still on the loose.
After hearing the brutalized women, the Iranian Parliament approved the Judeo-Islamic law of "Eye for an Eye" punishment for perpetrators of acid attacks who will suffer dismemberment of the same organ they harm.
