Latest on Coronavirus: Mysterious Death, Forecast on Next Wave, New Conspiracy Claim

The following are interesting updates and claims, some shocking, related to coronavirus:

• A Chinese American researcher on verge of making a significant coronavirus finding was shot to death in Pennsylvania. Bing Liu, 37, a researcher at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, was found dead Saturday inside a home north of Pittsburgh. He had been shot in the head and the neck, the agency said. An hour after Liu's body was discovered, a second person, Hao Gu, 46, was found dead inside a car less than a mile away. Liu, who earned a Ph.D. in computational science from the National University of Singapore, worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Carnegie Mellon University before becoming a research associate at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

• In a new video now banned on Youtube, Dr. Judy Mikovits, a prominent molecular biologist and a former chronic fatigue researcher who used to work with Dr. Anthony Fauci, tells filmmaker Mikki Willis that the federal government is behind a “plague of corruption” to inflate profits from a potential vaccine even as COVID-19 threatens lives. She claims she was thrown in jail in 2011 and placed under a gag order to silence her research suggesting a retrovirus known as xenotropic murine leukemia virus-related virus (XMRV) may be a cause for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS). She published a paper in 2009 and suggested the deadly virus was being delivered through vaccines. The journal Science retracted her paper two years later. “The Plandemic,” a 25-minute clip from an upcoming documentary, was taken off of YouTube this week for violating the Google-owned video site’s community guidelines but can be seen on sites like this (link). In her new book, Plague of Corruption: Restoring Faith in the Promise of Science, Mikovits wrote, “I never imagined I’d become one of the most controversial figures in twenty-first century science.” She — and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. — argue that she has been persecuted for her scientific views. Mikovitz' claims about Bayh-Dole, conflict of interest and profiteering by big Pharma and some government officials parallel those made recently by Dr. Rick Bright, director of the office involved in developing a coronavirus vaccine who says he was removed from his position because he resisted nepotism and profiteering by officials spending billions of dollars on inefficient drugs and schemes.

• Old charts and graphs from the 1918 influenza pandemic, making the rounds on social media, offer a clear rebuke to those moving too quickly to step away from coronavirus social distancing. In 1918, influenza swept the globe in a series of three waves: A mild first wave in spring or summer 1918, an extremely lethal second wave in fall 1918, followed by a less severe third wave in winter and spring 1919. When the virus finally slowed in 1920, an estimated 50 million to 100 million people had perished. This 3-waves pattern is confirmed by a major American investment bank's forecast and simulation of coronavirus spread:

• In the U.S., a growing number of college students are seeking repayment for tuition, room and board and other expenses amid campus shutdowns due to Covid-19. Students from Boston University and Brown University are among the latest group to file class-action lawsuits against the universities asking for repayment for tuition, room and board and other costs due to Covid-19-related campus closures and residence hall shutdowns.

• In the U.S., many rural areas are now dealing with a mental health crisis and high suicide rates amid Coronavirus. Many of these areas are home to Trump supporters and voters:

• Other Trump supporters in states such as Iowa are outraged about his order to keep meatpackers open despite high coronavirus infection and death rates. Trump, invoking the Defense Production Act, has ordered meatpacking plants to stay open no matter the cost. Outbreak at the Tyson Fresh Meats plant in Waterloo, Iowa has led to more than 1,600 coronavirus cases and 20 deaths. "It is irresponsible to downplay what is happening," says Ras Smith, who represents Waterloo in the Iowa state legislature. "I was enraged. I was incensed," said Tony Thompson, the sheriff of Black Hawk County after he visited the Tyson plant in early April.

• Globally, United Nations has predicted that long term coronavirus quarantine will save millions of lives but also lead to millions of unplanned pregnancies and at least seven million unplanned births!

• In Michigan, Pro-Trump armed militia stormed the Capitol. Rep. Sarah Anthony, a Democrat whose district is in the capital city, Lansing, told Yahoo News in an interview that her security detail, made up of local black and Latino activists, has come together because the armed protesters bearing white supremacist symbols represented a “different level of terror.” According to Anthony, the April 30 protest was different from prior coronavirus protests that have occurred at the Capitol in recent weeks because many of the demonstrators stormed inside the building and were armed. Anthony also said some of the protesters “had Confederate flags and swastikas,” which she found “extraordinarily triggering for me as an African-American woman.”
