People of Golestan build statue to honor abused dogs
Independent Persian News Search Engine, Kodoom.com: Animal rights activists in Iran's northern province of Golestan have built the statue of an abused dog to focus attention on the plight of dog abuse and to counter recent images posted on facebook showing a group of bystanders laughing at the scene of physical abuse of a stray dog.
Iranian authorities have banned ownership of pet dogs in some cities.
