Social Media Lead to Isolation, Depression (Audio/Video)
NPR: Studies show that people who spend more time on social media sites feel more socially isolated than those who don't. This might be because of a disconnect between our online lives and our real ones.
Research shared on National Public Radio (NPR) indicates jealousy, competition, isolation and depression are all likely outcomes of overuse of Social Media websites and applications.
Among videos about isolation in the age of social media, Gary Turk's spoken word film "Look Up" is among the most viral on Youtube. It is an interesting love story in a world where humans continue to find ways to make it easier to connect but always end up spending more time alone.
