The Nomadic Journey of a Bakhtiari Family According to the Smithsonian Magazine

There are still several large Iranian tribes that depend on a nomadic lifestyle. Nomads like Iran's Bakhtiari tribe, still seasonally migrate, as in ancient times, through treacherous mountain passes, deep gorges and jagged peaks.
The Smithsonian magazine has recently documented the migration of the Mokhtari family, members of the Bakhtiari tribe, from their summer encampment in Isfahan Province through the Zagros mountain passes towards their destination in Khuzestan Province some 150 difficult miles away.
These nomads are a hybrid between hunter gatherers and farmers and carry all their belongings, usually livestock, pots and pans, guns, salt, flour, onions and potato.
