Another Iranian Girl Sneaks Into A Football Stadium with Fake Beard and Mustache
Independent Aggregator of Iran-related News, Kodoom.com: Because women are banned from entering sports stadiums in Iran, Iranian media report that another Iranian girl fooled security guards today and entered Tehran's Azadi stadium with fake beard and mustache to watch her favorite team Persepolis play against Tractor of Tabriz in Iran's Professional football league:
Recently an anonymous girl resorted to the same gimmick to gain admission to a stadium in Ahvaz to watch Persepolis Foolad match.
Iran is among the few Islamic countries in the world that mandates Hijab and bans women from entering stadiums to watch men sports.
Famed Iranian director Jafar Panahi depicted this issue in his 2006 film Offside, which was banned in Iran. The film won the Silver Bear at the 2006 Berlin International Film Festival. Panahi, however, was arrested in 2010 along with his wife, daughter, and 15 friends and later charged with propaganda against the Iranian government. Despite support from filmmakers, film organizations, and human rights organizations from around the world, in December 2010 Panahi was sentenced to a six-year jail sentence and a 20-year ban on directing any movies, writing screenplays, giving any form of interview with Iranian or foreign media, or from leaving the country.
