A Trailblazer, Iranian Woman Nominated Among World Best Futsal Referees
Independent Aggregator of Iran-related News/Events, Kodoom.com: The 34-year-old Gelareh Nazemi was the first woman from Iran to work at a FIFA futsal event. She has umpired both men and women matches and in October, FIFA's official website admired her accomplishments: "A veritable trailblazer in her homeland ... on the verge of reaping the rewards of choosing to break down barriers and exhibiting proficiency on the court: she has been selected to referee the final of the Women’s Youth Olympic Futsal Tournament Buenos Aires 2018 between Portugal and Japan."
This week, The Futsal Planet website, which introduces the nominees for receiving the best awards in the futsal world at the end of each year, has put the name of Gelareh Nazemi among the top 10 nominees, 7 men and 3 women, to receive the best referee award for 2018.
