Ehsan Haddadi may stay in America
The Iranian discus thrower, Ehsan Haddadi, who for the first time in Iran's sports history won his country an Olympic medal in his field (Silver in 2012 London Summer Olympics) has left Iran for America and may not return to Iran. While practicing in Virginia, he told Iran's Mehr News Agency that he plans to compete in a series of discus throw games in America on behalf of Iran's Persepolis FC, but not for Iran's National team unless he is reimbursed for all overdue expenses by Iran's athletic federation. Haddadi claims he has had to incur - out of his pocket - all travel expenses to and from international competitions and practices because Iran has refused to cover his expenses.
Haddadi is 193 cm and 127 kg. After winning the Gold in 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou and 2011 Asian Championship in Kobe, he made history by becoming the first Iranian athlete to win a medal at IAAF World Championships in Athletics.
