Hertha Berlin's New Iranian German Coach: Persian Food is Absolutely My Favorite!
Sports and Entertainment Blog, Kodoom.com Editorial:
Earlier this week, Germany's premier football league (Bundesliga) team Hertha BSC appointed Iranian German coach Alexander Nouri as an interim head coach replacing the legendary Jurgen Klinsmann. Prior to Hertha, Nouri led Werder Bremen and FC Ingolstadt.
Born to an Iranian father (from city of Rasht) and a German mother, Nouri has discussed his heritage with German publication Kreiszeitung:
"Iran is absolutely part of me. My father came to Germany to study, got to know my mother in Hanover and studied chemistry in Oldenburg. However, I grew up in Buxtehude... My mixed cultural heritage enriched me a lot and made me a very open person.. I last visited Iran in 2005 together with my father. We visited some of the most interesting cities in the country. I was searching for my cultural roots and identity.. A search for my roots endowed in me tolerance, empathy and interest in people and other cultures. I still have uncles and aunts in Iran, but the majority of my Iranian relatives live in the United States. That's why I was often on vacation there as a child... I speak a little Farsi but I have no problem with the food... Persian dishes are the absolute number one for me!"
