Iran's World Cup Issue: Beer and immodest women images
Persian news search engine, Kodoom.com: Iran's national football team is stationed in the Headquarters of Brazil's famed Corinthians Paulista F.C. but there is one major problem: Corinthians' main sponsor is a beer company (Coringão Chopp) which is known for its beer and scantily clad models (some shown here, others not due to nudity!) promoting the team and the beer.
While Iranian footballers seem to have no objection, Iran's Football Federation has demanded that officials at Corinthians Paulista F.C. remove or cover immodest banners and posters.
An Iranian new site Tabnak reports the Brazilian F.C. has agreed to cover commercial posters at least during Iran's press interviews, and dedicate an Islamic prayer room for the Iranian officials.
Interestingly, the beer company even has the team's logo on its official emblem, so media observers in Brazil were surprised on Thursday to see banners from the beer company were covered up during Iranian team's Press conference.
Professional football is the main politically and culturally preferred means of entertainment in Brazil, as in many other countries with large poverty and unemployment rates.
