Iranian American USA Waterpolo Coach Charged With Sexually Abusing Underage Athletes

According to a statement by the law firm of Manly, Stewart & Finaldi, The Orange County District Attorney's office has charged Bahram Hojreh, 42, with a total of 22 counts, including sexual battery and sexual penetration by foreign object of a minor.
Hojreh, an Iranian American, was a coach at University High School and at the International Water Polo Club at Los Alamitos which is affiliated with USA Water Polo. Hojreh and USA Water Polo are being sued by 10 former athletes including a former student at University High.
The alleged abuse happened during one-on-one coaching sessions, according to court documents. Officials told the AP that Hojreh is accused of digitally (with fingers) penetrating the girls, touching their breasts and genitals, and pressuring them to touch his genitals. Hojreh, who has been involved in the water polo world for over two decades, is facing more than 20 felony and misdemeanor charges including sexual battery, sexual penetration by foreign object of a minor, child annoyance and lewd acts upon a child.
Hojreh’s attorney, Ricardo Nico, says Hojreh “adamantly denies” the allegations, the Orange County Register reported.
In the past, allegations of sexual abuse by coaches have plagued other US sports such as USA Gymnastics, USA Volleyball and USA Wrestling.
