Iranian clergy winner of bronze medal in international Kung Fu games
Karim Ashouri, a cleric from Islamic Republic of Iran won a bronze medal in kickboxing matches during last month's Kung Fu Full Contact Sanda Open games in Oberwinden, Germany. Ashouri (Ashoori) is perhaps the only Iranian clergyman who has entered sports in a professional capacity at international levels. He believes Islamic theological seminaries in Iran should emphasize sports more. He complains that Iran's Theological School (howzeh) in Qom does not even have a single swimming pool or athletic facility for students.
