Wrestling diplomacy: Now U.S. visits Tehran
Kodoom.com Iran News Engine: Less than two months after Iran's wrestling team arrived in Los Angeles for the World Cup of Freestyle wrestling (Event Link), now US is sending its Greco-Roman wrestling team to Tehran in early May to compete in the World Cup of Greco-Roman wrestling.
What some call Iran-US "wrestling diplomacy" may overshadow nuclear negotiation between the two countries which has recently faced challenges.
In March, Videos from Los Angeles showed a jovial atmosphere among Iranians and Americans both on stage - as sportsmanship and camaraderie between wrestlers - and among spectators watching Iran's victory in 2014 World Cup of freestyle wrestling in Los Angeles. The extent of cheering and energy of Iranian-American fans rooting for the Iranian team surprised American wrestlers, as pointed out by Reece Humphrey, one of the wrestlers in US team who also acknowledges the sportsmanship and superiority of the Iranian team. After defeating America, Iran went on to defeat India and Russia to win the championship.
