Young Iranians Win 6 Medals in Math Olympiad, Award Named after Maryam Mirzakhani

Young Iranian math prodigies won six medals and clinched the 18th spot for Iran in 61st International Mathematical Olympiad hosted (remotely by) Saint-Petersburg in Russia.
The Iranian team consisted of Alireza Haghi, who won a gold medal, Ali Mirzaei Anari, Kian Shamsaie and Mohammad Moshtaghifar, who each received a silver medal, Matin Yadollahi, Seyed Reza Hosseini Dolatabadi who won a bronze medal at the international competitions.
Also Mirzakhani awards were announced for outstanding math performances by girls, which were inaugurated at IMO 2017 in Rio de Janeiro in honor of distinguished Iranian mathematician Maryam Mirzakhani (see her full life story here).
