Penis Enlargement Gone Wrong Gains Iranian Asylee Admission into Australia
Independent Aggregator of Iran-related News/Events, Kodoom.com: An Iranian asylum seeker was granted entry into Australia from an immigration detention center in Papua New Guinea to undergo pricey reconstructive surgery after he fell seriously ill by injecting himself with palm oil in a botched DIY penis enlargement procedure.
The transfer was made possible under Australia’s controversial 2019 Medevac laws, which give doctors a greater say as to which sick refugees can come into the county from offshore detention centers for medical treatment. Medical evacuations can be refused on national security grounds.
In 2017, an Iranian asylum seeker who had been suffering acute mental health crises – and whose friends had pleaded with Australian authorities for him to be treated – has been found dead in the forest on Manus Island. Amnesty International commented at the time the death was "yet another bleak tragedy to arise out of the ongoing suffering and tensions on Manus Island ... Irrespective of the cause, Australia must accept liability for the damage its cruel policies are causing refugees. This was a man who came seeking Australia’s protection, Amnesty International is gravely concerned that he was provided inadequate healthcare and that his safety was not the paramount consideration. It is absolutely heartless of the Australian government to be playing politics with people’s lives – this must end now. Prime Minister Turnbull and Minister Dutton must immediately evacuate the offshore camps on Nauru and Manus, they must bring the people to safety in Australia now."
