New film from Iranian American mastermind of US prison break and alleged penis severing torturer
Independent Aggregator of Iran-related News/events, Kodoom.com: The Iranian American ex-Marine who masterminded a well-planned break out from a California jail in January 2016, filmed the escape, as newly released video shows.
The story of Hossein Nayeri is a dramatic one. He was accused in 2012 of helping his friends Kyle Shirakawa Handley, 35, and Ryan Anthony Kevorkian, 35, break into the Newport Beach home of a wealthy California pot dispensary owner, kidnapping and torturing him and severing the victim's penis!
Former Orange County District Attorney's spokeswoman Farrah Emami (Paul), also an Iranian American (now Director of Communications at Seattle City Light) claimed the defendants used a blowtorch to burn the victim: "They cut off his penis, they caused him very, very serious injuries." Prosecutors allege the suspects drove away with the penis so that it couldn't be reattached.
Handley was arrested after investigators allege they found evidence in his home. DNA on that evidence linked the other defendants to the crime. Nayeri fled to Iran but his former wife, 29-year-old Cortney Shegerian, now a lawyer, through a deal with the law-enforcement, participated in an elaborate scheme to lure Nayeri out of Iran and into the Czech Republic, where police in Prague arrested him and extradited him to Orange County in November 2013.
After being convicted and imprisoned, Nayeri and two other inmates broke out of Orange County, California jail on Jan. 22, 2016, after hatching an elaborate escape plan over a period of weeks and possibly months. The escape was the first in nearly three decades from the Central men’s jail built in 1968. Officials quickly decided only one of the escapees possessed the cunning and resourcefulness to mastermind it: Hossein Nayeri, a 37-year-old ex-Marine.
Nayeri was captured in San Francisco after a weeklong manhunt that spanned nearly the entire state. The authorities arrested but later released an Iranian American woman, Nooshafarin Ravaghi, 44, who taught English inside the jail and allegedly gave Nayeri a paper copy of a Google Earth map that showed an aerial view of the entire jail compound.
In an exclusive interview with The Orange County register, Nayeri in a clam voice insisted he is innocent and has been unjustly treated by everyone from authorities to the public, and that he’s not the demon portrayed by the media and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office. “I’m a nice guy,” he said.
