Iran's TV criticizes Ahmadinejad for interviewing with Farid Zakaria
Farid Zakaria, host of CNN's popular GPS program, recently traveled to Tehran and interviewed Ahmadinejad. Following this trip, Iran's state-run TV (following clip in Persian) criticizes Zakaria for his unfriendly trip report and pro-US positions, and criticizes his host (Ahmadinejad) for naively inviting such figures to Iran:
At the same time Zakaria is criticized by Iran's state-run media, he is chided by opponents of Iran's government for being lenient towards the theocratic regime in Iran, for example when he recently pointed out to Iran's success in controlling the inflation.
Contrary to claims by opponents and proponents of Iran's government, Zakaria seems to offer an in-depth and objective analysis of hot political issues. For example, in "Comparing the status of women in Iran and Saudi Arabia" Zakaria recently wrote in his blog: "if you watch the women of the Islamic Republic of Iran - a regime that is, by most accounts, retrograde, particularly with regard to women’s rights - you are struck by how defiantly women try to lead normal and productive lives."
