Iran's wealthiest unaffected by economic depression (video)
Using the soundtrack from "The Godfather" movie, Iran's state run TV aired an interview with a joyous billionnaire owner of a Maserati who - unaffected by the current economic depression in Iran - flaunts his car on streets of Tehran (video below). The interview was intended to attract Iranians abroad into investing in Iran by demonstrating the peace of mind and freedom for the wealthy in Iran. Iranian banks have faced a large wave of cash withdrawal by individuals converting their savings into dollar and gold or sending it abroad. In light of the price hyperinflation in Iran, the video drew criticism by conservative media(link here). An average model of Maserati sells for more than 1 Billion Toomans (about $300,000) in Iran, some 1000 times more than average Iranian household's monthly income.
