In 2009, Mr. Atabaki, a resident of Washington DC, announced his candidacy for Presidency of Iran. Although he was not taken seriously, Mr. Atabaki started a programs on a U.S.-based Persian Satellite TV station to discuss his plans. His programs attracted a large number of prank calls, some of which are shown below (in Persian, and containing language not suitable for children and youngsters):
