Moment of Indore patalpani accident
The usually dry or low level Patalpani waterfall is a popular picnic spot near Indore, India. On Sunday, July 17, the waterfall was the site of an unexpected and horrific disaster for members of an Indian family. A local source blames the sudden surge of water on man-made causes such as open flood gates of Nakheri dam canal system adjacent to the Malendi River.
Three family members died and two of the boys survived. As reflected in the comments under the YouTube Video, it appears that a slightly faster reaction by the family, or the crowd tying (denim) pants into a rescue rope could have saved the victims.
One cynical commentator opines: "United we fall, divided we may survive!"
