This 1978 hit by Gloria Gaynor (called by some as Queen of Disco) is one of the most popular disco songs of all time, symbolizing empowerment and survival (particularly by brokenhearted women). Two versions shown here, a recent performance in 2009 by Gaynor on Mandela Day in New York (honoring Nelson Mandela) and an original one by Gaynor in the 70's.
