Oliver Stone enlightens Bill Maher on Iran, Israel and South America
Bill Maher, host of HBO's "Real Time with Bill Maher," is known for his witty humor and unabashed liberal stance on political and social issues. He is Jewish but not religious, yet when it comes to Israel, Maher is often reluctant to criticize Israel - even right wing Israeli politicians and violence committed against Palestinians. On the June 18, 2010 show, Bill Maher got into a heated debate with Oliver Stone, Oscar-winning director of political films, about Iran and Israel (video below). Stone also discusses a new series he is working on called "The secret history of the United States" to be aired soon on Showtime.
In 2007, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad rejected a proposal by Oliver Stone to make a film about Ahmadinejad because Stone is part of the "Great Satan" cultural establishment, a semiofficial news agency reported. Stone went on to make a movie about Hugo Chavez.
