Persian comedy show Parazit on Jon Stewart's Daily Show
The Washington Post draws a parallel between Parazit and Jon Stewart's Daily Show on Comedy Central. Parazit is a satirical Persian program on Voice of America VOA with humorous take on daily news related to Iran. It often pokes fun at extremist and fanatical views on Iranian TV or the hypocrisy among Iranian religious leaders and politicians, particularly Ahmadinejad. The show's popularity among Iranians has prompted Iran's state-run media to produce similar programs but none has become as popular among Iranians. Parazit's facebook page so far has nearly 224,000 fans, despite internet filters and censorship in Iran.
