Youtube vs. NASCAR: Video of scary crash injuring many
The Verge: A NASCAR race at the Daytona International Speedway yesterday was disrupted by a harrowing crash that sent debris flying into the stands and left some fans injured. At least one fan who witnessed the event caught it on camera and promptly uploaded it to YouTube — but the video was blocked by NASCAR (not wanting people to see the scary scene up close) minutes after it went live. Later, YouTube restored the original video, stating “Our partners and users do not have the right to take down videos from YouTube unless they contain content which is copyright infringing.. " You can watch the video below:
Fans in the stands waived frantically for help. Smoke from the burning engine briefly clouded the area, and emergency vehicles descended on the scene. Ambulance sirens could be heard wailing behind the grandstands at a time the race winner would typically be doing celebratory burnouts.
In the comment section on Youtube, there was much exchange about one comment: "NASCAR contributes zero to society!"
