Exiled Iranian actress defiantly reveals body in Instagram
Independent aggregator of Iran-related News/events, Kodoom.com: Exiled Iranian actress, Sadaf Taherian, whose 2015 unveiled images and 2016 interviews to protest mandatory scarf for Iranian women provoked a furious reaction from Iran's Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, has now posted more scantily clad images of herself on her Instagram page, seen as another defiant provocative move against the mandatory Hijab in Iran.
In some of her Instgram posts, Taherian has used comments such as "I'll tell you what freedom is to me. No Fear," or "Breaking News, I don't care!"
Iran’s laws deem hijab mandatory for women since the establishment of the Islamic Republic in 1979. In reaction to Taherian's act, the ministry of culture and Islamic guidance denounced her ‘immoral’, banned her from acting, and photoshopped the traditional head scarf back into the shots.
Taherian is not the first exiled Iranian actress defying mandatory cover for women. Golshifteh Farahani's topless images and nude shots in her films have defied Hijab and angered conservative Iranian clerics. Iranian girls have also gone topless in Sweden to protest mandatory Hijab.
There are also currently several civil actions inside Iran, such as "stealthy freedoms" or "White scarves" spearheaded by journalist Masih Alinejad and others to protest mandatory head cover for women.
