GOOGOOSH Featured in Vancouver International Film Festival
Now in its 43rd year, the Vancouver International Film Festival brings cinema from around the world to the heart of Vancouver. This year's festival offers a diverse and thoughtful line-up of Persian or Iran-related movies, such as "Googoosh: Made of Fire." Everyone and anyone Persian, knows her. Yet, Niloufar Taghizadeh provides an enthralling documentary including archival footage, rare performances, as well as interviews with Googoosh. This is a fascinating portrait of a troubled and turbulent country, conveyed through the life of an extraordinary artist. Our 2nd sponsored feature film is Universal Language which was written by Matthew Rankin, Pirouz Nemati and Ila Firouzabadi and is selected as Canada's entry for Best International Feature film in the upcoming 97th Academy Awards. Universal Language which has already won a number of awards (Inaugural Audience Award, Europa Cinema & SACD Prize Winner) is touted as a captivating odyssey somewhere between Tehran and Winnipeg.
