iPhone X selling for $5000 in Iran but not working!
Independent Aggregator of Iran-related News/Events, Kodoom.com: Iranian officials have warned that iPhone X (iPhone 10) sets selling in black market for $5000 (20 Million Toomans in Iranian currency) are either counterfeit or will not work after the country's mandatory mobile phone registry project goes into effect.
For years the children of wealthy Iranians have paid top dollars for "unlocked" iPhones. Since Apple has no official franchisees or stores in Iran, price gouging is common and there are many counterfeit iPhones. While iPhone X sets at 20 million toomans are in high demand among the rich, an average Iranian teacher or government employee makes around 2-4 million toomans per month.
