This Nowruz We Can Support These Charities Aiding Actual Children and Schools in Iran
Society and Culture Blog, Kodoom.com Editorial
There are numerous charitable and non profit groups with a declared intent to support impoverished children and families in Iran but at least two have actual schools and real children faces attached to their long track record of charitable activities. And this Nowruz they can benefit from donations by Iranians or Persian speakers across the world.
Founded in 1994, the Oregon (US) based Child Foundation is a reputable international charity organization with a 4-star rating and a score of 92.9 assigned by Charity Navigator. Their focus countries include Iran, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Cambodia and Nepal. Among active projects undertaken by Child Foundation is the "Warm and Safe Classrooms for Sistani Children" campaign following the tragic incident in the city of Zahedan Iran, where a faulty heater in a classroom caught on fire, resulting in the death of four young girls. The campaign raised over $23,000 and purchased and sent 200 heaters to Sistan and Baluchestan. Donations can be still sent HERE.
Child Foundation also collects funds for individual students. You can see the faces and names of these children awaiting donations of only $30 a month HERE. Child Foundation also collects funds through their sponsored events such as their annual Nowruz Persian New Year Bazaar (Link).
The London-based Laila Salehzehi Charitable Foundation (LSCF) was launched in 2008 in loving memory of Laila Salehzehi, who tragically lost her life at the age of 23 in a car accident. LSCF supports charitable purposes worldwide to assist orphanages, schools, hospitals, and those unable to meet their medical needs. Their successful projects include schools built in Dashtok, Zahedan, Sengon (Sistan), Johloo (Hormozgan) and Tabadgan (Khorasan), Iran, as well as blind schools (Iran) and autistic schools (UK).
LSCF collects funds through personal efforts and donations of Mr. Salehzehi, online from donors (Link) and in their annual Nowruz Persian New Year fundraising party and gala (Links including this month's Nowruz Gala).
