Player leaving Iranian women's football team to join Aston Villa; Islamic uniform a dispute
The famed football team, Aston Villa of England, has signed up a female Iranian football player, Katayoun (Katayoon) Khosrowyar. Khosrowyar is a capable Iranian- American soccer (football) player who returned to Iran three years ago after 19 years of life outside the country, to join Iranian Women's national team. Khosrowyar (a former player of Ateltico Madrid) agreed to wear the Islamic sports uniform in Iran, but disputes between Iranian authorities and FIFA (world federation of football) over proper Islamic sports uniform for women has continued and Iran does not allow any woman who plays (anywhere) without the proper Islamic cover, to play for the national team. Khosrowyar has apparently decided to join Aston Villa and risk leaving Iranian National Team. She has mentioned "difficulties" in Iran prompting her to leave Iran again after three years.
