Reputable Atlanta gallery to exhibit works of Mahnaz Ettehadieh
Located at Kirkwood Station in Historic Kirkwood, Atlanta, pb&j gallery is a contemporary, affordable art gallery for the emerging collector, offering photography, painting, collage and sculpture. Their upcoming collection is that of an Iranian- American artist, Mahnaz Ettehadieh.
Mahnaz began studying art during her childhood in Iran. She first studied portraiture at the age of twelve and began her formal art education at the University of Pittsburgh, but completed her masters degree at the University of Houston. Ettehadieh has had exhibitions in Texas, Georgia and France, and has been commissioned for murals in the Houston area. Currently, Ettehadieh teaches art in Houston and spends her free time in her studio.
Being born and raised in Iran has had a tremendous impact upon the art of Mahnaz Ettehadieh. Her life there resurfaces as memories in her art. Because of her history and artistic temperament, she is deeply affected by her emotions. Her paintings provide a means to express these feelings and allows her to gain a greater sense of inner peace (some examples are pictured below).
"My images tend to reflect isolated figures in the process of bonding," she says. "The layering of oils symbolically reflects emotions that feel current with my present state of unrest."
The collection will be on display from July 23 to September 3, 2010. Event details here.
