A 1.5 Billion liter discrepancy in official figures on Iranian gasoline imports
According to "Jomhori Islami" according to the Iranian ministry of Oil some 3.3 Billion liters of gasoline was imported to Iran during the first 5 months of the Iranian calendar year. But this figure is 1.5 Billion liters higher than figures released by Iranian Customs Declaration for the same period.
United States' pressures on European Oil companies to stop sales of gasoline to Iran, has angered Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. He recently told his new oil Minister to "Please do something to trigger the boycott and embargo. Please do something to our refineries, interfere in operations, etc. so we don't keep looking at them for this 20 million liters of gasoline." The new Oil minister Mr. Mirkazemi is reportedly "clueless" on Oil and petroleum and has spoken of a plan to reduce the Octane number of gasoline in Iran (which means lowering the quality of gasoline).
Iran needs an estimated 20 million liters of gasoline in imports.//
