Iranian taxi drivers asked to help with firefighting: $50 cash reward

Director of Tehran's Fire Department announced new plans to increase reaction speed to fires in Tehran. The plan includes a $50 cash reward for any taxi driver who stops and extinguishes fires.
Because taxi drivers in Iran are not formally trained in firefighting and most do not carry any fire extinguishing apparatus, the new plan seems as a desperate measure to control the increasing number of fires across the Mega city of Tehran, with 10 million population. Recently, around the same time reformists call for strikes and peaceful protests, and simultaneous with the economic downturn, several major fires have engulfed parts of Iranian Bazaar (Central Market) and other areas of Tehran.
