The story of missing laptop from London to Tehran
The Telegraph: Dom del Torto, a British animator who had lost valuable his MacBook laptop in February was able to trace it using a hidden application that would report back the laptop's GPS location, which was sending images and signals from 3,000 miles away, from Tehran!
In a bid to track down the laptop and his files, Del Torto set up a website called "Dom's laptop is in Iran" and uploaded the photographs taken on a built-in camera from the family using the laptop. The pictures and website subsequently went viral around the globe. But Del Torto soon realized that the users in Tehran were innocent and not the ones who stole the laptop, so he removed the images from his website and indicated "Given the huge error of judgement on my part in sharing the story and failing to respect their privacy I have asked them to keep it by means of an apology... The people who now have my laptop have been good enough to get in touch and therefore the tracking software has done its job!"
