Popular Revolutionary Crooner: We Were Happy, I Wish We Could Turn Back Time But We Cannot!
Culture and Entertainment Blog, Kodoom.com
Gholamreza Kuwaitipour, one of Iran's most popular revolutionary crooners has upset authorities and militant conservatives in a joint performance with Parichehr, a 13 year old female rapper, singing about "Good old happy times that we messed up on our own!"
Kuwaitipour who is well known with his epic song (Mamad Naboodi) about the liberation of Khoramshahr from occupying Iraqi (Saddam Hussein's) Army by valiant Iranian fighters seems to be regretting, in his new song, the regime and fanatical forces he helped install in Iran: "We used to be happy.. I wish we could turn back time but we cannot"
This is not the first time Kuwaitipour has been controversial. He has already harshly criticized the powerful and fanatical mafia ruling every aspect of Iranian life, including music and culture.
