Culture and Society Blog
The traditional wedding rituals in Kalat, Iran, starts with a procession by women dressed in colorful silk garments walking throughout the town from the groom's house towards residences of the bride and groom's families.
The groom then dresses up in a colorful vest made from pure silk.
The ceremony continues with the bride's family dressing her up in a silk garment and a silk scarf covering her face. She can see through this thin veil.
The bride's face is uncovered when the silk scarf is removed in the presence of groom and during the exchange of vows.
The procession and rituals end with serving food and dance.
