Iran's military Police starts "Internet Patrols"
On Thursday Iran's military police "Internet Crimes Unit" added political websites to its target surveillance list and announced the launch of "Internet Patrols" to ensure all political content is in compliance with the government policies. This move comes after reports that most satellite TV stations from outside Iran are not visible in Tehran due to strong jamming signals sent by the Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Reformist websites also disclosed on Thursday that the Military Police has rewarded a bonus of $400 to each of the 35000 active duty members and pro-government militias used on November 4th to crack down on "green" reformist and student protests. It was said that police and militia also received an extra $250 per arrested reformist, which led to violence by police and a large number of detainees during the opposition's otherwise peaceful November 4th rally.
