Viral video on violence in Walmart draws Anti-consumerism attention
The viral videos (below) caught on June 4 from a brawl between two women in the shampoo aisle of the Beech Grove Wal-Mart in Indiana gained national attention. Anti consumerism activists say the videos reflect what has gone wrong with parts of the American society: Cheap low quality imported products by global corporations interested in profiting from communities instead of building or educating them, Consumers who are aggressive, stressed, overweight, and uneducated, Workers who are low waged and seem not to care about their work (some of the bystanders in the video), children exposed to violence and consumerism, and Racial tensions.
For Beech Grove Mayor Dennis Buckley, the incident was just the latest in a series of problems at a shopping center that he feels has gone from a minor annoyance to a public nuisance.
CBS News reports that the women who is asking her son to punch the other woman has been charged with neglect of a dependent and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
